Author Guidelines

1. General Information

The Journal of Scientific and Technological Advances (JSTA) welcomes original, scientifically rigorous, and ethically conducted research in natural and applied sciences, engineering and technology, health sciences, social sciences, and educational sciences.

JSTA is an international, multidisciplinary, peer-reviewed journal operating under a Diamond Open Access model. There are no submission fees or article processing charges (APCs).

All manuscripts must be written in clear, academically appropriate English and must demonstrate originality, methodological soundness, and a meaningful contribution to the relevant field.

Submission of a manuscript does not guarantee acceptance for publication.

2. Types of Manuscripts

JSTA considers the following categories:

Original Research Articles

Manuscripts presenting original empirical, experimental, computational, theoretical, or methodological research. Research articles should clearly describe the research problem, objectives, methodology, findings, and scientific contribution.

Review Articles

Critical and systematic evaluations of existing scholarly literature that synthesize current knowledge, identify research gaps, and provide significant analytical or theoretical insights. Systematic reviews should follow applicable reporting standards.

Short Communications

Concise reports presenting significant preliminary findings, innovative techniques, focused experimental observations, or noteworthy scientific developments that warrant timely scholarly dissemination.

The editorial team may request changes to the manuscript category when appropriate.

3. Manuscript Language and Formatting

Manuscripts must be prepared in English and submitted in an editable Microsoft Word (.docx) format.

The following formatting requirements apply:

  • Paper size: A4

  • Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt

  • Line spacing: 1.5

  • Margins: 2.5 cm on all sides

  • Page numbering: Required

  • Paragraph alignment: Justified

  • Tables and figures: Numbered consecutively and cited in the text

  • Reference style: APA, 7th edition

The manuscript must use a consistent heading structure. Abbreviations should be defined at first mention, and measurement units should follow internationally accepted conventions.

4. Title Page and Author Information

To preserve the integrity of the double-anonymous peer-review process, authors must submit a separate title-page file containing:

  • Full manuscript title

  • Full names of all authors

  • Institutional affiliations, including country

  • ORCID identifiers, where available

  • Corresponding author's email address

  • Author contributions

  • Funding information

  • Competing interest declarations

  • Acknowledgements, where applicable

All authors must approve the submitted version and agree to their inclusion as authors.

Changes in authorship after submission require an explanation and approval through the journal's editorial procedures.

5. Anonymous Manuscript

The main manuscript file must not contain information that directly identifies the authors.

Authors should remove names, affiliations, acknowledgements containing identifying information, and identifying document metadata where reasonably possible.

Self-citations must be presented in a manner consistent with scholarly citation standards without unnecessarily revealing author identity.

6. Title, Abstract, and Keywords

The manuscript title should be concise, informative, and accurately reflect the study's content.

Each manuscript should include:

  • An abstract of 150–250 words

  • Four to six keywords

  • A clear statement of the research purpose

  • A brief description of the methodology

  • The principal findings and conclusions

The abstract must be understandable independently of the main text. Citations should generally be avoided in the abstract.

A structured abstract may be used where appropriate to the discipline or study design.

7. Recommended Manuscript Structure

Original Research Articles should generally follow this structure:

Introduction

Present the scientific background, relevant literature, research problem, knowledge gap, and study objectives.

Materials and Methods / Methodology

Describe the research design, materials, data sources, participants or datasets where relevant, experimental or analytical procedures, and statistical methods in sufficient detail to support evaluation and reproducibility.

Results

Present the findings objectively using clearly organized text, tables, figures, and appropriate statistical analyses.

Discussion

Interpret the findings in relation to previous research, explain the scientific contribution, acknowledge limitations, and identify relevant implications.

Conclusion

Summarize the principal findings, their significance, and appropriate directions for future research.

Discipline-specific organizational structures are permitted where academically justified.

Review Articles and Short Communications may use structures appropriate to their objectives and methodologies.

8. Tables, Figures, and Supplementary Materials

Tables and figures must be numbered consecutively and accompanied by informative captions.

All visual materials must be legible and directly relevant to the research.

Authors must obtain the necessary permissions for reproduced or adapted copyrighted materials.

Supplementary datasets, source code, additional figures, protocols, and other supporting materials may be submitted where appropriate.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that supplementary materials do not violate privacy, confidentiality, copyright, or research ethics requirements.

9. References and Citations

JSTA adopts the American Psychological Association (APA), 7th edition, as its standard reference style.

All works cited in the manuscript must appear in the reference list, and all reference-list entries must be cited in the text.

References must be accurate, complete, and verifiable. DOI links should be included where available.

The examples above illustrate formatting conventions; they are not bibliographic references to actual publications.

Authors are responsible for independently verifying every reference, including sources suggested or formatted by artificial intelligence tools.

10. Research Ethics and Integrity

All submitted manuscripts must comply with internationally recognized standards of responsible research and scholarly publishing.

Fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, duplicate publication, inappropriate image manipulation, and other forms of research misconduct are prohibited.

Research involving human participants, human biological materials, identifiable personal information, or animals must comply with applicable ethical and legal requirements.

Authors must provide details of ethics committee approval or explain any legally and ethically applicable exemption.

Informed consent must be obtained where required, and participant confidentiality must be protected.

Clinical trials must comply with applicable registration and reporting requirements.

11. Authorship and Contributions

Authorship must reflect substantial scholarly contributions to the research.

All listed authors must approve the final manuscript and accept accountability for their contributions.

Guest, gift, and ghost authorship are not permitted.

The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all authors have approved the submission and that the journal receives accurate authorship information.

An author contribution statement should be provided using a recognized framework, such as CRediT, where appropriate.

12. Funding and Competing Interests

Authors must disclose all relevant sources of financial support and any financial or non-financial competing interests that could reasonably influence the research or its interpretation.

Where no competing interests exist, authors should include the statement:

"The authors declare no competing interests."

Where the study received no external funding, authors may state:

"This research received no external funding."

All declarations must accurately reflect the circumstances of the study.

13. Data Availability and Reproducibility

Authors should provide a Data Availability Statement explaining whether and how the data supporting their findings can be accessed.

Where data cannot be shared because of ethical, legal, contractual, or privacy restrictions, the statement must explain the applicable limitations.

Sharing appropriate research materials, analysis code, and methodological documentation is encouraged when consistent with legal and ethical obligations.

14. Use of Artificial Intelligence Tools

Authors must transparently disclose substantive use of generative artificial intelligence tools in the preparation, analysis, or reporting of their research.

The disclosure should identify the tool and explain the nature of its use where relevant.

AI systems must not be listed as authors.

Human authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, interpretation, and appropriate citation of all manuscript content.

AI-generated references must be independently verified.

Use of AI tools solely for routine spelling, grammar, or language editing should be distinguished from substantive use in scientific analysis or content generation.

15. Peer Review and Editorial Decisions

All manuscripts undergo an initial editorial screening for journal scope, originality, scientific contribution, completeness, and ethical compliance.

Manuscripts considered suitable for external evaluation are normally reviewed by at least two independent subject specialists through a double-anonymous peer-review process.

Reviewers evaluate the manuscript's scientific quality, methodological appropriateness, validity of results, clarity of reporting, and relevance to the literature.

Editorial decisions may include rejection, revision, or acceptance.

Authors invited to revise a manuscript should provide a detailed response addressing reviewer and editor comments.

The final decision rests with the responsible non-conflicted editor in accordance with the journal's editorial governance policy.

16. Copyright and Open Access

JSTA operates under a Diamond Open Access model. Authors are not charged submission or publication fees.

The journal's definitive copyright agreement and publication licence will be specified in its official copyright and licensing policy.

The proposed article licence is Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0), subject to formal adoption before publication.

Authors must ensure that they possess the necessary rights and permissions for all submitted materials.
